You make a living by what you get, but you make a life by what you give. -- Winston Churchill
About Virginia Corps
Like so many Virginians, I measure my life by the difference I can make in the lives of others. I learned that lesson while serving as a missionary in Honduras. I have reaffirmed it many times since while volunteering in my community. Virginia is a wonderful place, filled with warm, compassionate people who care about their community and the people they share it with. To support that spirit, and to be a resource for those who are willing to share their time and talent to benefit others, we are pleased to continue the successful Virginia Corps program.
Virginia Corps was established in September 2002 to harness the renewed spirit of volunteerism and community preparedness that flourished after the tragic attacks of 9/11. It was founded on the idea that we can build a stronger, united Virginia through volunteer service. Virginia Corps helps make this possible by putting Virginians in touch with a wide range of volunteer efforts. You can find news about general volunteerism, emergency preparedness training, and national service programs as well as information about the local and regional volunteer centers across the Commonwealth – all right here on this site.
I am excited about the future of our Commonwealth, and I encourage you to help shape it as one of Virginia's volunteers.
Sincerely,
Timothy M. Kaine
