The Virginia Commission for National and Community Service
The Virginia Commission for National and Community Service supports service, volunteering, and civic engagement in the Commonwealth. In addition to funding state-level AmeriCorps programs, the Commission offers a variety of training, resources, and information to organizations that rely on community service and volunteering. Through the Unified State Plan for Service the Commission invites the ideas and support of all Virginians committed to strengthening the Commonwealth’s service and civic sectors.

The Points of Light Foundation (POLF) and Volunteer Center National Network support volunteering nationwide. Among its many endeavors, the POLF manages the Daily Points of Light Award, sponsors the annual National Service Conference, and provides a bookstore of materials on volunteer resource management, fundraising, and nonprofit management.
INDEPENDENT SECTOR (IS) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan coalition of more than 700 national organizations, foundations, and corporate philanthropy programs. Its mission is to promote, strengthen, and advance the nonprofit and philanthropic communities to foster private initiatives for the public good. The IS commissions periodic studies related to giving and volunteering in the United States, publishes the national annual dollar value of volunteer time, and holds an annual conference in sites across the country.
